They called this woman tone deaf
they laughed at her when she tried to sing;
but her voice to me was like an angels voice,
bells from heaven that ring.

"Can you please sing me a la-la?",
I would ask when I was a little girl;
She take me on her lap,
her voice would soothe my troubled world.

As I got to be a teenager
I needed her less and less;
she would always offer a "la-la",
when she knew my life was a mess.

"I’m too old for that mom
I am busy anyway;
maybe we’ll talk later
maybe another day."

The years went by slowly
I moved away from home;
starting a brand new life,
giving birth to a child of my own.

My mom would come to see me
when it all became too much;
and offered up these words to me,
my heart she deeply touched.

"Sing to him a la-la
and he will no longer cry;
for when he hears your voice,
the pain will pass him by."

"No matter if your voice is bad
it will take away your child’s tears;
Your song comes from the angels,
and that is all he hears!"

What a beautiful song! I don't know Ellie very well, but she seems to be a wonderful person and certainly deserves this tribute!

Lady Lost,
  A wonderful tribute to a wonderful Mom and friend of Passions! A mothers voice truely can soothe many a woe! How fortunate you are to have such a caring and talented mother. I see her talents did not stop with her generation but she has graciously passed them along to you! Bless you both!

Dear sweet daughter of mine; How do I begin to thank you for this magnificent tribute?
You have just found your lovely gift for writing poetry and I'm so excited for you and very proud. Your poetry and your gift
are exquisite, just as you are! So, here's your prize...LALALALALA! I love you, Mom< !signature-->

What a beautiful tribute to your Mother!  Like you, I adore my mom too. I loved the last stanza, how true it is:

"No matter if your voice is bad
it will take away your child's tears;
Your song comes from the angels
and that is all he hears!"

Beautiful, that reminds me of my mom because she really can't sing at all, but I always loved to hear her sing and talk to me at bedtime anyways, parents, especially mothers are perfect in their child's eyes!

Take care,

What a lovely song of tribute to your mom! Being tone deaf doesn't mean her heart can't sing!

L.L.,
  I appreciate the wonderful tribute you pay your mother here.  And a treasured friend of mine, she has never sung to me--but offered many kind and insightful words of advise and incouragement.  I think your Mother is a wonderful Lady, and you are too, if you two are anything alike.  God bless you,  David

Oh, you are definitely your Mother's daughter!!!  This is just beautiful, and how wonderful that you have joined her (and the rest of us) here.  She certainly is special.  Terrific tribute to a terrific lady.  Bonnie

Gosh! All of your responses are wonderful, thank you so much!  My mom raised 6 children, me being somewhere in the middle, and even though our house was often times chaotic, she never had trouble making us all feel cherished and loved individually...she really is "Supermom" in my eyes! Thanks again for your kind words!

this is so wonderful..its amazing how an "angel's song" can soothe the soul!

i remember my grandfather singing to us in his gruff ole voice--it was the most comforting song we knew...this makes me wish i could hear the "angels song" again...

i can tell from her replies that your mom is so very touched by this tribute to her..

great job!

Musical harmony in beautiful verse.  Spine chilling and its great to see your mom and you very close.           I just don't have words to describe the beauty in the love in this post and in the responses as well.  Grrrrrrreat job.
