"The Little Dragon"

There once was a little dragon, who had a very big dream,
To one day grow up to be a big, mean, fire-breath’n machine.
But, then one day he got a cold, was all stuffed up and even a little choked.
Whenever he'd cough, all that would come out, was a tiny puff of smoke.
And then, it happened, all of a sudden, he felt it com’n on.
He curled his toes, arched his back,
And gave a giant sneeze so hard, it shook his neez.
From deep within, out came a fiery stream,
The likes of which, he had never seen.
Oh, the little dragon was so pleezed,
Except, that now, every time he curls his toes,
He burns his little nose.

Then, one day, when the little dragon was asleep in his cave,
Along came a Knight named George, who had the world to save.
Mistaking the little dragon for a beast instead,
George raised his sword,
And prepared to chop off the dragon's head.
Then, at that moment, the little dragon opened his eyes,
Reared up towards the skies,
And stood a good twenty feet, at the least.
The little dragon, who had been deceivingly small,
Was really as big as his heart.
He could have easily swallowed George whole,
Never mind tearing him apart,
But instead, he stood there and said,
"Wouldn’t you like to be my friend, rather than dead?"
George had to agree, for you see,
Each had something to give to the other.
The dragon, with his little arms
Needed the powerful swift sword of the Knight,
And George, in need of a strong steed,
Now had the fire-power of the dragon.
In the end, they became best friends,
And rode off to save the world together.

So, for better or less, whenever someone sneezes,
Remember the tale of "The Little Dragon,"
And, wish someone, a dragon bless.

Dragon Bless,

Gene

Mike,

Thanks, I really, truely did just sart last weekend. I've written things before, like reseach papers in college, but never poetry. I always felt that it was too dificult. I was always envious of the way poets could make words sing, yet still make so much sense.

Thanks,

Kitty,
Thanks for reviving this. I was thinking about bringing it back for Sam's return. But where is he?

Gene this is so sweet.  The little dragon is missed so much by everyone here.  This is really neat!
