This is a new poem.  I only have one other listed under "sad poems".  I am curious as to what anybody thinks about this peom.  Let me know

My Child - Where Have You Gone?

My precious child, where have you gone?
Without you the days and nights are oh so long.
I long for your laughter like bells in my ear
The warm sweet touch that still seems near.

The gentle hugs and kisses that touched my life
The tender-filled moments of saying goodnight.
Where is the smile that lights up my day?
Leaving me to face a sky filled with gray

Days so long that time stand still
Feeling as though life is an upward  hill
How can I go on without you, my child?
With none of your hugs, so tender and mild?

I long for you with an ache in my heart
Wanting to search with no place to start
Upward I climb, ever searching for you
And then heavens gates come into my view

Great golden arches,  like beacons in the sky,
Now fill my sight as I begin to cry.
And then I see you, running so free,
Running rosy little rings around God’s warm knee.

Why, oh, Lord, have you taken my child?
The sweet smiling face that left me beguiled
Gone too soon, Lord, gone forever..
I thought we would always be together

My child, said God, she is not gone
She has come home to me, where she belongs
One day you too will be home
In Heaven’s gardens, together you shall roam.

Together again, together forever,
To run, to laugh, to play together.
For reasons you can not know or understand,
I have taken her back into my strong hands

This was my choice and my choice alone.
Don’t blame yourself , guilt is a stone
I too love this child that I chose just for you
And I realize the moments you had together were too few

So take a moment now to love her again,
Wrap your arms around her and smile again
Take these moments into your heart
Go back to your life and live out your part

Home is where the heart is, my child
All you have to do is wait a short while
Be patient, my child, one day you will see
We will all be together for eternity

I awoke right then with a smile on my face
I knew for sure I had been touched by God’s grace
My heart is still broken, still filled with pain
But I know for sure we’ll be together again

WELCOME Snb4everm!
I thought this was very comforting and just beautifully written! How sad and sorrowful it is to lose a child, but you will see them again. Sometimes they're just too precious to go through this world and return to God.
It's comforting to know they are very happy where they are.

I loved it!

WELCOME!
Your poem has touched me deeply, because I too had my little baby girl, Michelle, go home to God. That was 32 years ago, and the loss and pain will always be in a corner of my heart.I join my loss to yours, because this connection we've made here means they are now playing together in His garden.
You poem is exquisite and I'm looking forward to more!  Ellie

Thanks so much for taking time to read this poem. I would just like to add that I have not lost a child.  But as a mother of two beautiful young girls,  and having lost my mother at the age of 16, I am aware of loss.  I wrote this for all the mother's and father's out there who love their children as much as I do    Thanks again!

WELCOME TO YOU!! The awesomeness of this poem. It leaves me speechless. This poem flooded me with messages written within. Your strength and love for God remains steadfast, as He gave you a dream to comfort and reassure you of His love for you and your precious little one with Him. Bless you for this. marcy

Your Poem friend, is very touch full of love and emotion, but also a heavenly devotion. And you wrote it so convincingly, it appeared to be based on your own experience--that is the mark of a good writer-You have touched us with your beautiful poem.  Can we see more?   David

Marcy,

Thanks so much for your kind words.  Believe it or not, I wrote this poem yesterday morning.  It took about 20 minutes.  It feels like God is guiding my thoughts.  It's wonderful.

Snb4 - What a beautifully written, heartfelt poem.  I really liked the way you "woke with a smile," and was glad to read that it wasn't an experience you had to go through.  God bless all who have had to endure such a loss. Bonnie

David,

I'm really glad you enjoyed the poem.  I love to write poetry and I love to help people.  It seems that this is the best way for me to express my feelings....by writing something that may comfort someone else.  I only have one other poem that I wrote the day after a close friend of mine was killed.  It is posted under Sad Poems - Poems about death.  It is entitled "I want you to know".  This poem is extra special to me.  It is realy the first poem I ever wrote, and it was almost as if I had to sit down and write it.  I believe God wanted me to write it for her family.  IT is truly wonderful to feel the hand of God touching you.  God Bless     Angela
