The Servent
I was walking home from Church on darkened night
When I came upon an older man in a bruttle fight
Close by sat a small girl with hair of gold
Looking up at her daddy who was 'ol so bold
She stared on with her bright blue eyes gleaming
Looked just like an angel sitting there dreaming

The fight broke out of control and into the street
Neither man had the slightest notion of defeat
The girl sat on the side of the bridge
She showed her fathers pain as her face folded in a cringe

The man in black reached to his back and pulled a gun
This little confrontation was very very close to done
They backed away from each other in a fit of rage
His face gleamed wild like a monkey breaking from it's cage
As the shot rang through the air
Who would now be the one to dare?

The little girl was the one who stared the barrel in the face
The pointless street rage, oh man what a messed up case

I shoved this beautiful girl out of the way
Well--what else can I say
I felt my body go over--I felt myself enter into the deep blue current
In a moment I heard God whisper to my ear

"Well done thou good and faithful servent"

I like this poem...I can't say why....it's just a feeling.....it's great...well written and terribly sad but up-lifting at the same time!

You pulled off the long lines well....and in doing so added the quote from the Bible.  Nice work Hoppy
