The nights are long
Time spent is ugly
Fire in the belly
Still burns as before

Questioning Heaven
And where it may lie
It's not time to go
I can't make the cut

Spellbound by the moon
A moonrock echo
Maybe that's Heaven
Armstrong never said

It is two o'clock
Window drapes are pulled
Streetlight says hello
But not the shadows

Shadows, secrets kept
I don't trust shadows
Still, I look at them
They've stolen my soul

That's why I sit here
Each night I open
Window drapes to see
Shadows look at me

Though I am soulless
The moon is my friend
It shines the brightest
When I feel like this

Trying, but failing
To light the shadows
To prove what they are
Deceitful and false

And I thank the moon
For trying so hard
But the shadows pull
Me into their dark

Kind of a moon and shadow dance going on there.
Very captivating poem JP.

Think you, Blues, for checking out my scribbling. Yeah, I guess I did have a little moon and shadow calypso going here. Thank you, my friend!
