Receiving A Letter and Taking A Ride

I took a slow ride
to a small town
to visit a girl I used to know
that now was no longer around,
of course she was living on pleasantly
but not so near to me
she was long gone;
just two weeks after she
graduated from Palmdale High
she said "I gotta go"
and she didn't tell me
or anyone I know why,
she had mentioned to someone,
something about Butte, Montana
but that could have been a lie;
turns out the place she was really going
turned out to be Bullhead City, Arizona
and now the truth was showing
for all that were interested to see
and one of those was me;
I truly missed her and her silly smile
and in just a few hours from now
new times and old memories would collide
I missed her red shorts and her silly smile
so when I received a letter I took a ride.
