Guess the Shape Our Anniversary Cake?

Ironic,
That the moon is high,
Up in the sky.

I promised it to you,
When we were young
And compromised.

You still don't have it,
you'll say you don't mind,
Though I can see that twinkle
In your eyes.

No doubt remembering the time,
When I came home
With a styrofoam sphere,
Holes for craters,
Calling it the moon, giving it
To you.

Your surprise,
When you found a bunny inside,
I called it a lunar rabbit,
And you gave me a youthful kiss.

But oh the horror!
When days later it ate,
Your cherished flowers,
You were sort of mad,
Till I wrote a Godzilla-like story,
With a bunny in mind.

So the moon is still up there,
Proof of our romance,

When we first dated it was there,
I vowed my heart to you then,
And when I,
Ended in up the hospital,
You, we, were so afraid.

And you stepped outside,
And must have looked at the sky,
Because when you came back,
You were shivering,
And you kissed me,
In that way that only you do,
And you stuttered in my ear,
For the first time in our lives,
"I love you"
Though we'd both known it,
All along.

So I wish you,
A happy anniversary,
Through all the rights and wrongs.

And I think of the moon,
As I write about you,
Who I haven't quite yet found.
