The Pit

My broken self, man without bend.
My other self, lone, without friend.
I stand up tall, one withered soul
That only in pieces stands whole.

The dream?  It once whispered to me,
My call unto eternity
That echoed from beyond locked doors.
Seems my forever was not yours.

But soon, even the echoes died
Where Silence would not be denied—
Where still I stood, a visage grim
Lost within the shadow of him.

Was there I wept, was there I strove
With the flaming passions that drove
The love in me to this dark pit
Till nothing should arise from it.

Yet still I sing, as echoes fade—
A promise of love never made.
And still I stare at the night sky,
Where fallen angels no more fly.

Where still I long for that withheld,
By every utterance compelled
To reach for what I’ll never see:
Light your forever stole from me.

Last two lines are kickass, Michael. And by the way, you have friends. At least online friends, don't know about real world friends.

rofl... I think I have some real-world friends, Jer...  But thank you.  Don't read too much into the darkness of my work please.  It's really just my norm.  I do smile and laugh in real life, I promise.

...afraid to sigh into your silence here Michael...

but still...*sigh
(can't help it)
I've known YOU and can boldly say that you give ALL in every instance, some people can't appreciate that. or be that maybe? known those too...

hugs, you.

I have always taken you as a person that was writing real, Michael. I didn't know it was all just make believe.

It is 100% real, Jer... But while the depression I suffer from demands my pen's attention while I'm feeling it, I do know and experience brighter points in life as well.  I was just trying to tell you I was o.k., or at least at a point that is normal for me.  Felt like you were reaching out, thought I owed you at least that much.

Tanya, Thank you.  you do know and understand me like few people do, can, or will.  You can interrupt my silence any time you wish.  I hear you.

You know I have favorites from your brilliant pen - and this one joins that collection. I especially love the last two verses. Into my library and into my heart.
