If I do not ponder on the possibility
of the thorn’s piercing
instead concentrating on the
loveliness of the petals
will I then be lovely too?

If I ignore irritations which
these days seem
insurmountable
and turn my lips up instead
will I then form the image I have painted?

If I do not reciprocate when acid rain
burns its way down my cheeks
will I then find pleasure in the
puddles?

As you think, so you are
many have said it
though I cannot prove it one way
or the other
nor am I inclined to test the theory
to any great extent
but at the very least
I would think that
I am hopeful...

Positive attitude is the key. Easy said, I know, and I fought it for years. It helps.

I really like this because you're being such an open realist yet dressing it with poetic reasoning.
Great read!

Yes, you will! I love this. We sometimes doubt the truth of "we are what we think we are", but we better believe it!

Very nice questioning in a lovely poem, dear Luminosity.

And hopeful is good! *S*

I guess I disagree with most - for often, even the most positive of attitudes can't make suckey circumstances go away... and that silver lining is often easier to find in hindsight than while the downpour is soaking you. *S*

But hope??? Yes... I believe in hope... especially when it propels me out of the muck and into a dry robe. *G*

The rose meanders... and my mind wanders... and somehow, I hope you understand that I like this... and love you. *S*
