her claim to fame is a red dress
it's flimsy and bargain basement priced
a body-hugging dress
don't'ja know
she carries herself with a look that says
man! rip this dress from my  body
the dress follows each curve with surgical precision
one has not to wonder
what lies underneath
as she strolls down the street
giving the impression she's
the only woman in the world
and she can pick and she can choose
. . . the red dress . . .
. . . her attitude . . .
validates your worst fears about her
she wears it like bone and skin
its in her last will and testament
they should bury her wearing the red dress
if she's going to hell
she wants to look the part

Jerry
You have some great fun writing these things.
Yeah the red dress is an icon isn't it?
I think she has every right to wear it and include or exclude whomever she pleases.
But, that's just me as irrationall as I can be so I have to say I really enjoy your work.

true love never looks after it's own interests

Of course she has every right, Eric. Just like women who don't dress in the screaming red to attract attention. Absolutely. Yep, I get a kick out of writing these things for sure. Thank you for your kind words, man.

Last will and testament, indeed!  I've witnessed the transformation of souls that such dresses imbue upon both the wearer and the watcher.  Downright scary.

Haha! I admit that it can get a little out of hand, as you say, both for the wearer and the watcher. Still, you can't say it is a dull evening as she twists and squirms into the dress and you trying to rip and tear the darn thing off her. Gotta love it!

Actually
this is quite good
though I shy away
from misogyny

Shy away from anything you want, buster. This is not a poem of that type. You are stretching to think it is.

she reminds me of this...sorry for tagging on to such a great write

not wet enough

out of the car she flowed
one smooth leg after the other
with liquidity and grace
she poured
across the concrete
sex appeal dripped
from head to toe
at the crook of her finger
men splash at her knees
spewing words of undying love
begging for just one drip
and I look down
at my jeans
and comfortable shoes
and suddenly I don't feel...
wet enough

and another blast from the past...lol...seems this red dress poem has brought back so memories that probably should have stayed buried
long ago

Oh no, luminosity, I am grateful that you brought that one back. The last line was a killer. Thanks for sharing and for being here.
