.

In a town
I have not been in
For a long time
I see an old woman
On a wooden bridge

It is winter and she is
Wearing a long woolen coat
Carrying a blue umbrella
In the falling snow

For a moment
I think I know her
But cannot remember
Still something about her
Makes me slow

She looks at me
With pale blue eyes
Only then do I realize
Who we were

The tall young man
And his summer girl
Queen of flowers
And red cardinals
That sang her praises
To the world

Who lowers her head
As she now passes by
A fleeting moment’s memory
That softly drifts away

.

Nicely done...I read in the paper the other day a seventy nine year old woman and eighty year old man got married...they were high school sweethearts and they met again after their spouses had died. How lovely.
