her grandmothers black hair

She had black hair
but it was not for sultry reasons
or a mystery that gave second thoughts
to the men that passed her

It was sincere
from her grandmother
the way her hair use to
blend with the black, pearl sky
as a drum of silence
tip toed along the bridges and canals
above the quiet current

She was rather stunning
a body of the deepest fall
the way one can leap so far
into a black abyss
and still live to speak about it the following day

Black hair, bunched up in a pony
fearless,
for every evening
the night noticed her hair
as she slid the curtains shut

For the envy of the sky
was nothing compared
to how she felt
to be a part of her Grandmothers long, black hair
