In the dim light of Liars Den;
A smoky haze stung their eyes;
Two people, lost, so much alone,
Glanced at each other with a sigh.

He stirred his Manhattan with a straw,
Eyes still connected, he's now in awe.

"A jewel among the swine," he said,
"A rarified gem that's plain to see.
From your lovely eyes a ray of light
Shines a beacon of warmth on me."

Demure was her half hidden smile,
Telling him she submits to beguile.

They moved closer to each other,
In an oft repeated, sensual ballet.
His lines and her approval assured
Them sweet comfort, things are okay.

Knees 'neath the table oft did meet
Slivers of passion surged like heat.

They spoke of odds and ends of life,
Old lovers, of whom they did disdain.
Each tale of woe sadder than before,
Tears fell from Bob and then from Jayne.

Fueling their passion with liquor,
He would growl and she would purr.

In the night they found a place to go,
There they acted out their special need.
She thought he was a mite too rough,
And he thought she was a dull weed.

Next day, he wants to hurry and leave,
But she and his money's gone; he's so naive.

At a cocktail party, one woman said to another,
'Aren't you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?'
'Yes, I am. I married the wrong man.'

Hah...nothing is what it seems. Or perhaps it is and two people careen along regardless. Unfortunately the ending is all too typical in this world. Nicely done Jerry, you wove the feelings and frustrations through this.

Good Morning, Nicole. Yes, when you stop in Liars Den (and aren't they all) you ought to expect to be lied to. 'Course being ripped of is the last straw.

Thank you for being here.

Maybe not so much naive, but more
along the lines of plain 'ol stupid.

Much insight in your write.  Enjoyed.

Yep. Stupid is as stupid does. There's a lot of stupid going on out there, JL. Thanks for stopping by.
