All bright colors of the summer
Stirred into a richer brew.
Strong palette of autumns colors
Brightening my world anew
Green still lends itself for background
Bronze of wheat field’s ripening grain.
Deciduous trees striving for honor
Rust and golden leaves retain.
Wine hued plums and red-cheeked apples
Are still hanging in the trees.
Yellow peaches, pears of green tones
All compete honors to seize.
Dahlias and the lingering roses,
Nod their heads of every shade.
Green streaked melons, orange pumpkins
In big fields, neatly displayed.
Sunflowers in their brown and yellow
Towering heads holding plump seed
For goldfinch and purple finches
Gathering on its stalk to feed.
Golden yellow, streaks of scarlet,
Blended by the Master’s hand.
No Monet in it’s bland softness
Could reflect what God has planned.
Purples, oranges, reds and gold,
Autumn comes with colors bold.

Can't come too soon for me, Joyce. Beautiful poem with every color in the rainbow and then some.

And the seasons go 'round and 'round,

....and picking up speed right before our eyes.

There's much to look forward to in the coming months, and your poem fills me with anticipation.

Beautifully done~

What a wealth of beauty, you describe here, Joyce!  I read it very slowly to imbibe each beautiful image to the full.  I am so glad you see all this.  So many people miss it.  Of course, in most of South Africa, we don’t have much change in the seasons at all, but we certainly have as many riches of nature in other ways.  Smiles.

Thank you, dear Joyce, for this wonderful rendering of early autumn. It is so rich and vivid, I savoured every line and word.

What a gorgeous picture you've painted for us with your words! I love dahlias... and here they're just one bit of the riches!
