Not my usual style, and really only the poetry of life, just wanted to share, hope it is ok.

Life Changing

Have you seen the news, she said
Seen it he thought, read it maybe, heard it maybe
Leave it he thought, what news he said
About the lucky man
Who, the one who made the grade
Blew his mind out in a car
Don’t be facetious, she said
As if, he thought
The one who has won 5 million, local man, it seems
Life changing, she said, certainly he replied
I’d buy a big house, where we both could live
You are being facetious again
But you do have blue eyes, baby, he said
Forget it she said, you want toast
Please, white, well white toasted, not white-white
And certainly not black this time
She held her breath
What’s in the case in the hall, she said
Oh, just clothes, for the dry cleaners, that’s all
Why in a case
To keep them dry, it’s raining
Heavy and why is it locked
Winter coats, and it is locked to stop them falling out
It’s high summer, bit early for coats is it not
Just thought I’d get it done, he said
And anyway, you have been through the pockets already.
By the way, your boss rang yesterday
Said you did not attend the conference,
Told him thought you were there, and you were late home, again
Had a couple of appointments, important, that’s all, so
Whatever happened, he thought, a pussycat once
Now like a spitting alley cat, poked with a stick
Will you be late again tonight, she asked, emphatically
Probably, lot of work on, might have to stay the night
You know how it is
Yes she said, I certainly do know
He thought, little secretary, fine for now, good times
Bit loud and brassy though, a spot of lunch
A hotel room as usual, but time to move on.
Are you listening she said
Sorry, he said
I said I might not be here when you eventually come home
Things to do, shopping, you know how it is
Fine he said, bye he said, bye she said
She ran upstairs, pulled out her suitcase
Been packed and ready for the last two days
Local man made good, so funny
A local man she knew, so well, so very well

She'd better stand in line for that local man. Hah! Yeah, I would say this is a slice of life poem.
