Fair to middlin' of nowhere

As the sun set last night
I wondered if you watched it
over the rim of your cheap burgundy
the evening rays dancing red light
And from your porch your thoughts did stray
taking a walk miles away
The setting rays upon your face made you smile
as you went to that haven
of your imagination
where your mind does delight
in lines of verse
and story lines yet to traverse
Your writer heart in its prime
savoring images into rhyme
Through the bottom of your glass
you see the sun sink into the swamp
and you go inside and read
your words aloud one last time
before turning in
You sleep the sleep of happy dreams
of a man ready for the tomorrow
that lets him begin again.

Lori. I am stunned. Deliriously stunned. I'm flabbergasted to say the least. Thank you, dear heart, I will treasure this until my eyes close for the last time. What a wonderful, magnificent surprise! And yes, cheap California burgundy and my rhymes go glass to hand to keyboard as the sun sets. This is precious, nothing left for me to say, except thank you again.

Oh, pleased is not the word, Lori, but it's one of the words.

It's okay with the ole' remark, but then I look around and discover that Lori is correct I am an ole' guy trying to keep up with the world.

Lori
This is excellent and you got it just right.
He's a very talented writer and this is a good tribute.
