The angels danced throughout the night
Until the early morn
And God himself smiled with delight
The day my love was born.

The meadows dressed in golden wheat
The fields with yellow corn.
Fruit trees were never quite so sweet
As when my love was born.

Dear Mother Nature bade the flowers
To blossom and adorn
The world in its entirety
The day my love was born.

I smile each time I see her face
No more a heart forlorn.
The world became a better place
The day my love was born.

*oh happy dance* I get to be the first to reply
AND
thank you for posting this classic poem of yours!  It has always been one my favourites!
I'm glad that the newer poets at pip get the honour of now reading it.

Have I ever told you how much I love your poetry?!

Methinks that you’re a true romantic at heart and this is perfectly beautiful M’deer!
This truly is one of the most gorgeous love poems ever .....I'm saving it in my library!

Loved this because I see so many  about love  but always with pain. I never felt the pain of love so it is nice to read about good love and the pleasure it brings. latearrival

Very nice indeed.

I'm happy for you. Many don't get to say/write that these days.

Thank you all for such kind comments. I had actually forgotten I had written it until Melissa asked me to repost it! Maybe I'll look back and see what other poems I've forgotten!

It's no wonder Melissa asked you to repost that heart touching poem Mike, it is a real gem from a master poet. Very much enjoyed.

If i had written this poem, I'm sure Toerag would wax semi-poetic about the virtues of Sally Sheep out there in the flowers blossoming, etc.  But snce you wrote it, all we'll read is something about beer and Alabama.  It's not fair, I tell ya!!!

Was great then...is great know.  Like a fine wine... it just gets better with age.

I'm so glad I checked in this evening.  When love is born, we are borne on wings, and you are right...God smiles. This is where life centers.  I think it's called "heart"!  Powerfully beautiful vibrant light, here...
