It's a miracle what the earth gives,
From water, sun and seed,
The beauty of flowers that paint the earth,
The food that fills our needs.

I haven't the touch for growing,
But love seeing a garden grow,
Watching seeds turn into plants,
The miracle of life from soil.

I do my gardening late at night,
Fill my basket with fruits from labor,
Besides it is the safest time,
(Cuz the garden is my neighbor's).

well it's a good thing you aren't MY neighbor! My Shephard Chow dog wouldn't let you pick a thing! You should see the moles and armadillos in my yard....dead!

LOL

But the neighbors with the best gardens
always have fruits [and veggies]
to share! I'll bet he was just glad he
didn't have to truck it over to your house!

LOL...

Welcome Spring, to Toe's version of
the rest of the story

I saw that coming

Gardens are like hair,  you water it, and it grows, anyone can do it!  In these "tight" times a garden is a great thing - even a spice garden.

There I go getting all serious, but seriously, when you are watching your money they can give you back way more than you give it.

I tend to "prune" my neighbours flowers for her.

Nice to read you Toe.

Hey Toe... still messin' around in the fruits and veggies I see. I thought that was the biggest damn gopher I'd ever seen in my garder the other night, but now I know the truth of the matter.

We have a garden, of sorts, every year.  The weeds take over, and the zucchini.  The neighbor always comes over, and keeps his eye on it, though. We decided to share the cherry tomatoes last year with family, who were delighted, but they didn't leave any for us!  Even the neighborhood kids were climbing the fence! And the deer ate the roses growing in the front yard.  We couldn't win for losing.

Our old dog doesn't even growl any more at the interlopers.

Thank you so much all for your kind replies. Haven't been lurking here in quite awhile, alot of new names and very talented poets. We used to have alot of fun here, LongJohn and Balladeer and Andrew Scott and just far too many to mention. If you go back in time and archives you can find some crazy zany stuff, I think they used to call it "The Toerag Wars"....Balladeer and LJA are far beyond me in talent and wisdom, um, come to think of it, most people are

If I send you a list, would you gather some groceries for me, sweet one? LOL I'd be ever so grateful! *G*

I love this... and just hope your neighbors don't have any big dogs or shotguns! *G*

Toerag my new friend I hope you wrote that with tongue in cheek. It gave me quite a smile. Take care.

Lindsay, do NOT call Toerag a friend! He is an evil, scheming nogoodnik whose words you can never believe (especially when he talks about me!) BEWARE!!!!!!

HAHAHA!! That was very funny and I wouldn't mind having a vegetable gardenof my own. Our neighbor behind us is growing some, but he has a trap set if anyone dares to take his vegetables. NIce poem.

ah
but the secret is never to take too much at one time.
The hare is locked within the garden and the gardener is looking for a hole in the fence.
