Lord, why have you spun me down this alley
this dark corner
in a world that is shrinking
a man from a vast valley of wide open spaces

walks down an artificial canyon
nay, a maze
in a country, a world
that denies your name

with their own mouths they proclaim their trouble
living in a country where no one thinks nor cares
of whats best for others
no sense, nor heart for their brethren

no sense of honor
nor right or wrong
they've created a Mad World
with every child that never learns your song, your praise

no expressions, empty faces
on the trams, the metros
drones, a stream of bodies filing up
filing down... stairs

on their way...
to where?

and so I look
I raise my gaze

to meet the eyes,
face to face, moving from...
face to face
counting until I find one...
find one that is still alive

they're out there
but they're rare

a soul, a flame
a glimmer of light
of life
in this...

Mad World

Uh, I don't understand this . . . "in a country, a world / that denies your name."

if I understand this correctly, it speaks volumes of truth (and describes the world in which we find ourselves so very well described) ...good, thought-provoking write...enjoyed

"to meet the eyes,

Finding God in their eyes like needles in a haystack...Good capture of a cold gray feeling.
