I've walked grand halls
fat-cat rich on parade
splenderscrumptious
never felt I belonged there
though it was nice to tarry
until I decided to go

I've lain flat on my back
in the vast grassland of this land
staring up into the heavens
makes a fellow feel small
I gave all to that grassland
until I decided to go

I've trod o'er the stench of Hell
adding my own stench as I went
knee-deep in the sins of man
screaming amen to myself
I coveted my place there
until I decided to go

the avenue of graveyards
have been my paradise get-away
elaborate tombstones
cheaper stakes in the ground
I spoke aloud, waited for an answer
until I decided to go

I've fought wars of my own making
with grit and determination
dodging missiles flung toward me
catching them eating with relish
I stepped on many a booby trap
until I decided to go

my struggle fraught with distain
I feel I have dug a deep pit
decided to fill it up
before digging it up again
I labored, oh so hard
until I decided to go

I stalked my own shadow
it was wounded and half dead
it merely stood there
giving up without a fight
I had congress with my shadow
until I decided to go

the sinister spirits of slaughter
the dark angels of death
have depicted me admirable
one they may swoop down and
insert themselves into my battle
until I decided to go

I'm like a stalwart enemy
although the enemy is me
oh, how I've maimed and destroyed
it's true about burning bridges
you can never cross over again
until I decided to go

Impressive, dear Jerry. Love your title too ... "Wandering to wonder"! Perfect, you are on your way. As long as we are able to "wonder" we have not lost one of the main ingredients of a meaningful life. Those who have never really overcome any challenges, those who have not seen the darkness, those who have not lived close to despair and "felt small" while looking up into the sky, they have still more to wander and to wonder ...
Your Path straightens more with every step you take.

Excellent.
Love,
Margherita

I admire your honest take on your own self, not shirking at all from the truth of you.
I liked  this a lot. It takes a lot to expose

I call it therapy, Emma, and I need a lot of therapy I'm afraid. I'm working on it.

Thank you for reading and commenting.

Jerry,

What an incredibly honest, vulnerable, expression of parts of your life. It was beautifully written. I really enjoyed this one.

Please accept my profound words of regret and sorrow, Margherita , that I failed to look above Emma's name and I left you out of the thank you comments.

Please believe me, although I guess I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, but it was just a simple oversight.

I am sorry. I didn't forget you on purpose. It was an accident and I just don't know what else to say, but I'm sorry again.

Thank you very much for stopping by my page to read and comment so positively on my words, they are very much appreciated.
