The lovliness of Summer blooms just now
Playing my heartstrings gently like a bow
The world itself dreams in drowsiness dazed
In the sultry dusk fields are purple hazed

Twilight half closes sleepy eyes
From the dewy meadows white mists arise
The air is heavy with the scent of flowers
Their perfume invading the sunset hours

And bright against the garden wall
The Wisteria's purple arches fall
Where dappled verdant leaves cascade
Creating a breathless summer shade

So the summer magic spell is cast
Providing Mother Nature's repast
Where nectar little butterflies entice
In mauve and scented paradise

Faintly, far away, a cuckoo calls
In the quietude night softly falls
And I think what a joy it is to share
The scent of evening in the air...

hello Heart2heart, this is why poetry is made, to share sensations that give the sense of living...

Twilight half closes sleepy eyes
From the dewy meadows white mists arise
The air is heavy with the scent of flowers
Their perfume invading the sunset hours

these sensations are delicious and sweet...

thanks for the poem.

Oh, this is such a delightful read, so rich in fragrance and colors, dear Katriona. Summer essence I will call it.

And the picture ... well a little extra gift to me, that's how it feels, Margrit/Daisy!

Inhaling deeply.

Love,
Margherita

What a lovely comment Margherita, yes I agree the scent of the wild flowers is the most beautiful.  Thank you for your reply.
Always a pleasure to read them.

Your lovely words are enhanced by yet another beautiful picture. Do you take these pictures yourself?

Why thanks dear Ida, most of the pictures I find on flickr.com, although I sometimes use my daughter's, she is a wonderful photographer and also posts on flickr.com (sharing site).
