small talk in gravy bowls not too much flower or thickness more of a brim catch hesitation just before it gets deeper and then we smile awkward and pull our gloves back on noticing how they are wrinkled from the sweating of our palms and sitting on our hands in case we wanted to touch the other's something or even hold it for a while pretending it was part time ours and then you look away just long enough for me to breathe and take another sip of courage from your nearly empty glass filling my eyes again with slow momentary persuasion ___________________ daark |
