deceitful
is Sunday's face,
the polished marble presentation

facade
that turns to dust
come Monday
when the corporate mindset
settles on your brow,
and the bottom line
needs lowering again
so your margins look better
to the shareholders

beware the Friday cocktail hour,
for you may be
served next

Spot on write.
Enjoyed your gallant rendering.  Sunday should remain beyond a day

Not sure it hit me in the solar plxus, being just a student working on a edumakation, but Monday Corp. will come far too soon.  Let me file this away till next year, I'm sure it will be just as good and more applicable.

much (sadly accurate) truth (particularly amid the
"Runaway American Dream") packed into this short 'write'!

I, for one...feel like I have been 'run down' by that corporate
dream and then 'paved over' by the 'information super-highway'...

Applause!!

It is a dog-eat-dog world, isn't it.  Just hope I don't have to eat any...quit that life before I got eaten alive.  Oh, and yes, I don't like the dishonesty of the Sunday faces either.  Enjoyed this, Kacy.  *hugs*....jo

"beware the Friday cocktail hour"

Back when the big easy was still easy--much to my annoyance, my supervisor had a habit of doling out the payroll checks at the end of the day--because...back then, if you paid your crew before lunch, none of them came back. (Mondays were also optional.)

I apologize for the tired story-telling on your thread, but memories of paychecks are all I've got left now.

There's a lot to be said about the corporate rat race that is applicable beyond the word filter.

Just thought I'd say "hey", and I love how your brow furrows when you write about something that ticks you off.

I work with horses, no corporate world for me. I'll take less pay, slow down, take the time to notice nature's ever changing details. I work hard physically but horses are so good for the inside of a person. It's an outdoosy, inner peace job. Nothing like the fresh air and nature to help me move a bit slower in a world rushing by. I refuse to rush. Sunday should be a day of rest though I am in NO way religious. It's a day for family, friends or not doing much of anything. D

Sad truths in this write, Midnitesun, beautifully expressed.

You got that right. The faces we see on Sunday are not the same as the ones we see during the week.

I know far too many holier-than-thou
that think an hour in the pew
rids themselves of their latest and
not-so-ethical and less than moral deeds
from the week before, or the week pending.

I do believe that is why I go out into
His yard to pray...

Very good, Kacy!

Thanking each of you for your comments. It's a damn shame this seems to be universal knowledge!
