Crimson Tide

The color of life
The color of death
Joy no more
My heart breaks
You are gone – lost, they say
I did not misplace you
As though you were keys

I dreamt of that color
Red, red balloons taking flight
I didn’t realize
You were saying
Goodbye

You left me on a crimson tide
Washed away
I am helpless to stop it
Aloneness echoes within me
A hollow empty vessel
