When I go out to meet the day. When I get off the midnight shift each morning, My face wears a brighter smile than those just coming in. Many are not yet awake and need their coffee break, As their face has not yet adjusted to the sun. Until they do, they can not crack a smile. Or exchange pleasantries of morning. Before I sign out for the day,I gather my reserve And stand as tall as my mature body allows. I smile and say my goodbyes, Walking, as tall and sprightly as I can, Pulling myself together in mind and body off I go to greet the sun. I do not show my older age if I can help it, I do not care to be acknowledged in that way. Jo perry Oct 19 07 |

"do not show my older age if I can help it, I do not care to be acknowledged in that way." Good for you! I, however, sometimes use my age in that I stand my ground when shopping or whatever and make the younger people move away or step back. They do and I smile. Got to be some advantages!  |

smile... "someone" just came in to greet his day at midnight. He was smiling too. But I think you are a bit more altruistic than he... in fact, I KNOW you are!  (I am guessing you are a nurse?) I know yer an angel.  |
