When I was a little girl
I was very wary of crossing bridges.
Steel structures spanning rivers
Were ominous and scary.
Sometimes I would dream of huge bridges
That never seemed to end.
In order to cross those bridges
I would close my eyes and pretend....
To fly.
But age and sorrow tend to ground us
And gravity can be such a bother.
I've learned how to build
My own kind of bridges
To keep from falling into the water.

I'm still working on those bridges~~

*funny story*  I had to take my Afghan dog to Phila. for an operation years ago and had to cross this bridge near Lancaster , PA  in the fog..it seemed like an uphill bridge and I couldn't see the end of it nor the sides and was  driving into low clouds over the river...thought I may be on my way to heaven

And now that al Qaeda is eyeballing some of our bridges for possible targets, and with some of our older bridges failing, it seems to take a certain amount of trust to safely cross a bridge...James

I still am weary of crossing bridges. Especially when there are high winds and the big transport trucks go whizzing by. My uncle was one of the architects of the one that I cross over quite often and he used to say that he made sure that he made it extra strong so that I would be safe when I was on it. ~ Hey, I wonder if he was pertaining to my weight! lol

May your wings fly you safely wherever you want to go.

Enjoyed this little peek of you as a little girl.

It's good to build bridges in case you ever get grounded - but I hope you soar with the eagles forever.

a good commitee can decimate communication.

Thank you all for your very nice comments.
A few years ago I was watching television when that double decker bridge fell on those people during that earthquake in San
Francisco. The "little girl" in me was terrified. We had crossed that bridge a year earlier on our way to Oregon.
