Paradise Found

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

In misty gloaming of bonnie brae,
A lad with a fife and a drum,
Hailed his love for a lovely lass,
Of them all, she was the plum.

O’er hill and dale he searched for her,
This maiden beyond compare.
She stirred his blood like no other had,
Of them all, she was most fair.

One glorious morn at the break of day,
He found her by shore of the loch,
Singing so sadly of love she had lost,
As tears soaked her emerald frock.

Gold rays of sun lit up her form,
Dresden skin was as fair as milk.
Eyes reflected the blue of the skies,
And her hair was of auburn silk.

She heard the sound of the beating drum,
Followed by the trill of the fife.
Her sadness left with the sight of the lad,
For she knew he’d be part of her life.

He knelt and spoke before maiden fair,
Recounting each search at cock's crow.
How he’d spied her once on the bonnie brae,
And had searched since that mome of ago.

Her cheeks flushed the rosiest pink,
The sparkle returned to her eyes.
He swept her up and twirled her about,
For in her he had found paradise.

In misty gloaming of bonnie brae,
A lad with a fife and a drum,
Hailed his love for a lovely lass,
Of them all, she was the plum.

.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.

Thank you! You responded so quickly! ~ Unfortunately, I have to record it again because I said "Paradise Lost" at the beginning of the recording! Oh, sheesh-kabobs!

Here I go again!

Hugs to you!

OMG...as if the poem itself weren't spectatular enough combined with the lovely lilt of your voice when reading it I truly had thought I'd found paradise if only for a few moments. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful...what a beautiful reading voice you have and what a majestic poem you've written here. What a wonderful option you've given your readers with the voice recording. I read along with you as you read and it really brought your words home. ((((APPLAUSE))))

As you and I are kindred spirits, I, too, am disappointed that you are unable to receive the audio ~ especially for my angel poem. I know that that would be one that would really 'speak' to your heart.

Hi there! It was so nice to hear from you!
As for posting the audio, you would have to upload a sound file from your computer to the net ~ a hosting site. I see that some poets have done it through thestartlitecafe.com. That probably would be the easiest root to take.

Hugs to you,

Thank you for saying so! Sometimes I surprise myself when I write in this manner. Mind you, when I do, it flows from me like sap from a sugar maple! lol I wish all my poetry was as easy to write as this one was. I was transported to another time and another place! I'm pleased you enjoyed it!

Have a great day down under!

Oh, I am so pleased that you finally got your audio to work. With these last few poems that I've "orchestrated", I kept hoping that you would be able to hear them ~ especially the poem about angels.

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic response! You know that I always value your replies ~ and YOUR poetry!!!!

Hi, Alison! I think I was in "another land in another time" while I was writing it! Truly! It's difficult to explain, but this poem practically wrote itself ~ and I'm the one that is getting the accolades! lol

Often that is the case when I write these type of poems. Must be a past life thing!

Paradise Islands ~

Well, PI, YOU just "blew me out of the water" with your enthusiastic and highly complimentary comments.

I understand that you used to belong to pip in the past and had the user name "sweat heart". I would like to welcome you back into the family fold!

Thank you for your kind words and for reading and replying to my poem!

I suppose the title "Paradise Found" would intrigue a poet with the name "Paradise Islands"! lol

Giving you a warm, welcoming back hug,
