He just appeared at eventide.
I opened the door, he came inside.
He swished his tail and looked around.
And said "I'll stay.  A home I've found."

About two months old, a striped grey.
My how that kitty likes to play.
He climbs on my lap and to my head.
His sharp little claws, I've come to dread.

He is too young to be a stray.
Someone has thrown him away.
I hadn't replaced last pet you see.
I knew sooner or later, one would find me.

There is no doubt, he is here to stay.
The sweet little kitten who was tossed away.

I'm happy for you Joyce. Llife is lonesome without a pet.  All our pets have been from the road or from the shelters. Since we live in the country people feel it is okay to drop their unwanted cats and dogs out here.

Thank you, Denise and Betty.  He is growing so fast and is going to be a very handsome speciman. My daughter thinks he might be an ocicat.  Love, Joyce

I won't say what I want to happen to people who throw away pets - I will say that the little kitty has found a true friend in you, Joyce.

Give him a pet for me.

Love you,
A

PS - I just looked up "ocicat" ~ What a beautiful animal.

Dear Joyce

As an animal lover, this poem of yours really touched my heart.  It is wonderful that the cat found its way to you.  A blessing for you both.

Sounds like he has a good home now! When I was growing up we always had 3 cats  in the house no more no less. Where my father worked there was a section in the grass surrounding it were strays would go, and sure enough he would bring one home and my mom would say oh just for a week or so til we can get another home for it of course that never happened. (my father was no dummy!) LOL  Thanks for a great memory for me
