It wasn’t an excuse . . .

You’re changing all my circles into squares
All I once thought challenged
All by your unyielding lack of faith
Conversations between our eyes
Take place in-between near kisses
But they’re all misses

You want so much more
Than I’m willing to give away
I won’t waver, but I will fall sometimes
Will you help me up?
Or do I still have to rise alone

I’ve always had someone there
But they couldn’t measure up
Will you be different?
Or must I face the world
With no one to stand besides me

I have such a hard time
With things that seem so simple
It no excuse, but the past is to blame
My tainted experience
With matters of the heart
Has left me unwhole

You’ve been given a girl
Who isn’t always there
You took the short end of the stick
And it broke off in your hand
I’m sorry your luck doesn’t hold

"I thought I'd just mention in passing . . . I always wanted a Sparkly of my very own." -Jeremy The Crow
