When Sunlight Falls in the Yester Daze

As fog settles in, late this day,
I gaze at moon, this evening's rise.
Wonder "to whom it may concern"
these piercing thoughts, transparent lies.

When sunlight falls in the yester daze,
(unspoken walks of loneliness),
when voices fill the web of mind
to take me back to your caress,
I am a stranger to this world today,
feeling often, out of place.
Naked, penning tears to fill
reflections of an aging face.

Take me back to yesterday,
when loving was a simple act,
Two to share each other's cause
in harmony, not just abstract.
When truth was truth without the gray,
and world was rainbowed in vintaged hues.
I feel a stranger in this world today,
constrained by lines that I infuse
upon a wall of endless stone,
etched with memories, that leave me cold.
Take me back to yesterday,
those memories, in treasured hold.

Tonight released, unending thoughts,
wavering softly in candle's cast.
The eye of faith, bit blinded now,
my heart in mourning, for times of past.

Todays' illusions float the mind,
words seem tarnished in their play.
Between the lines, desires fade
as lost in feel, love slips away.
When message, languaged plain to see
of love for one, in silent ache,
is shuffled off as shade of green,
this world today, I cannot take.

I miss the fall of yesterday,
the strolls that walked me hand in hand,
delivering me unto desires.
If only you could understand...

As fog settles in, late this day,
I gaze at moon, this evening's rise.
When sunlight falls in the yester daze,
I wish to share these loving eyes.

Whatever the challenge, I am certain that Marge would have thought that you met it extremely well! What a fine penning, this be!!!

I read it twice for the sheer pleasure of reading poetry of the highest order! M, you brim with talent.

I truly feel your poetry.

reflections of an aging face."

Hey Maur!  A truly inspired challenge post.
I know Marge and you were good friends, and I'm saddened for both you and her family.

I believe there are a very great many of us feeling similarly:

"I feel a stranger in this world today"
  [lost in that Yester-daze!]

rather hard to 'cling to' who we once were and/or how things might/should have been and such ...

[Christopher Morley once said that whatever a given person fears the most ... is generally what
ultimately happens to them (such as ending up irrelevant and/or alone; etc.]

We already got it, Jeff or at least one...been shoveling  snow since yesterday and snow topped with ice today. Oh my aching body

Thanks Sue, everythings fine here

Chanson, glad you love it..was written so long ago. Not sure I can even write like that anymore.

Thanks Linda, Marge could always inspire me with a phrase or two.

Artic Wind, nice to see you  around again. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm not sure Bruce, but I was talking to another  friend in real about aging and  what "things" are most important and how the idealism of being young changes over time no matter how hard you try to make the world a better place for all.

Don't know how I ever missed this. I remember Marge's challenge, wrote quite some poems myself on the given lines back then. This is just beautiful Maureen, it flows like a river. I miss her so much, it aches. My heart just won't accept she's not around anymore.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

A very beautiful, pensive poem, Maureen, most worthy of a reponse to Marge's challenge.  Thank you for posting it to honour Marge.
