There’s a secret part of me
That is longing to be free
From a dark and dismal prison deep within
It has chosen its own time
And the nature of its rhyme
It is yearning to be dancing in the wind

There’s a truth I can’t deny
There’s a thought that wants to fly
On the sweet melodic lyrics of my wing
It’s the quiver in my quill’
The submission of my will
It’s the silence of my soul that wants to sing

I don’t hesitate to part
From the contents of my heart
In those true and gentle moments of a muse
I don’t care what others think
Of the color of my ink
Nor the fragile words and phrases that I use

There’s a poem inside of me
Deep in fathoms of the sea
There are teardrops that are swelling in my eye
I am longing to unleash
All the passion in my reach
I am going to stretch my poet wings and fly!

Elizabeth, this sounds kind of sad. But, beautifully written, as always. I truly love reading your poetry. You are my favorite poet, and always have been. I hope you are doing okay.

Were I you, I'd let them fall,
I would not care at all, at all.
The color of your ink is true
And that is why we all love you!

Elizabeth

This is such a nice poetic mini autobiography you have painted.

Wonderful arrangement of thoughts.....Like these I love...

"I don’t hesitate to part
From the contents of my heart
In those true and gentle moments of a muse
I don’t care what others think
Of the color of my ink
Nor the fragile words and phrases that I use"

Great!

love the beginning of this (especially)!:

"There’s a secret part of me
That is longing to be free...

It has chosen its own time
And the nature of its rhyme
... yearning to be dancing
  in the wind"

Yo dear Elizabeth Santos,

This works very well, and it's well put together.  You’re obviously running with the right crowd.

Elizabeth Santos, Take a bow. that is one of the very best poems that you have ever

written, it is of the ones that I have read anyway. The meter, the rhyming and the

story it tells, is a joy to read.
Love to you dear Lady and keep them coming.

Dear Elizabeth,
I am new here and just an amateur at this, but  that was truly a poem that touched my heart. You had me tearing up from the first stanza.  Thank you for your eloquent and inspiring words!

And well you did to surrender to this inner urge to fly.

Absolutely beautiful and I think we all can relate to what you express here so lovingly.

Love,
Margherita
