He sleeps there. Silently.
And I love him, I realize.
My knight in shining armor,
the sparkle in my eyes.

I sit here in the light
of the computer screen,
after just making love all night,
I can see the in-between.

I can see the faults of others
and the faults I call my own,
and the road is long and narrow,
but I don't walk it alone.

He will pay no legal price
for the mistakes I've made,
but he'll be without me
when my time needs paid.

But he'll be there when I'm out,
on his horse white and pure,
and though we're different,
we'll make it through, I'm sure.

He reads only poems of love
that you will never read,
I married him and committed to
working on "us", whatever need.

He is a good man and I believe in him
and I will stick with him for life,
no matter his background or lifestyle,
I accepted to be his wife.

And I think of it all
while he lays there sleeping.
And smile...wanting to hold him
while others are still weeping.

Your nightly poetic considerations are beautiful, dear Dixie, and hold wisdom too.

Love and hugs.

thank you each for reading and leaving your replies Sometimes I am too hard on people and too hard on myself too. I figure it's about time to just wake up and be happy, no matter what else happens. Never know when today might be the last day of your life.
