Walking along a misty shore
drenched by the restless sea
I think again of some bitter experiences
life has seen fit to hand out without permission
the harsh words, slammed doors, cold shoulders
but then the sun breaks through the clouds
and I find myself thinking of compassion:
Isn't it true
that when things seem the farthest
they are the closest?

Seems the sea had something to add
to my ruminations:
Compassion is for the outrageous
and the courageous
for it creates the unease of inner pain;
opens old wounds festering from birth;
creates confusion in relationships;
"demands" a complete change of mind
about most things.
Sorrow is its companion
but ever it is the sorrow of healing.

You will see this take place around you,
and feel it within you:
the word "Peace" will have power.
Old addictions and habits fade;
suppressed fears turn to courage;
hatreds blend into love
and finally, you know joy.

Compassion is
passion through detachment
a "doing" thing.
Emptying. Freeing. Empowering.
It brings forth joy, evolves into love.

Lovely thoughts on compassion, WW. and yes, I think compassion is like a magic potion for those who deserve and accept it.

Compassion to me stems from humility.  The more humble you are the easier it is to accept, give love, and receive it.

Nicely done.

The Question in the title of the poem is answered by the poem itself with resounding beauty, WindWalker.

Thanks,

Really like it all but love this summary very much!
