Does the outer space into which we dissolve taste of us at all? ~Rilke, The Second Elegy you tell me stars don’t burn where do they go then when I cannot find them when my eye is lonely begging for light you tell me we won’t consume each other where shall we go then when passion comes looking for us when we catch fire and rise and double back become one and one with the universe and all that is told from before and from later where shall we be when all is done words wrung from pleading mouths chanteys sung breaths taken and taken again where shall we be shall we be stars then waiting for an eye to behold us? |
