Furthermore

Between the crevices of Christmas tinsel
and New Years fireworks, there is unnamed sorrow.
Deep, abiding sorrow, for all things lost
and some things gained, as another year passes.

Time marches on with or without our permission,
in time's passing dreams can be trampled
and hopes crushed if we are not careful -
enough to protect our battered spirits

I have known sorrow, have been a friend to shadows;
yet I rejoice!
For every passing moment, every painful breath
shows I live and am unvanquished.
A victor over the ravages of time
despite bearing its scars deep within.

Time does not heal, but seals the wounds
so that life is sustained, and in that sustaining
is nurtured into new hope.
The scars show the journey and distance travelled
but no longer have the power to rend.

So in the sorrow of the crevice between Christmas
and New Year, I grow strong
and when the last spark is faded,
I rise up on new wings to face the future
and deny the prophets of doom
who would decry my fate.

a good commitee can decimate communication.
