papa al pomodoro
sounds exotic
mysterious
glamorous even

like silk
on the road
waiting for footprints
to leave themselves
as heart maps

like hair
weaving itself into rings
for empty fingers
to wave
during story telling

like adoration
tingeing itself
onto lost skin
pressing
into pores that don’t remember
what adoration feels like

like love
yes
like that

like love
wearing itself
around a neck
for the eye to behold

happens that way sometimes
something sounds exotic
mysterious
glamorous even

ahhh
papa al pomodoro

stale bread and tomato soup

this 'pomeadored' by me!  Being of little vocab, I just had to look up pomodoro.  I can't imagine the taste, but it's picture painted 1000 words!  I love how you demonstrated how the sounds of a word can paint beautiful pictures....Great poem going straight to my library!  Very clever, Lady!

Incidently, don't know how often I can steal moments to read and respond, so I'll wish you a Happy New Year a little early.  "Happy New Year!"

My imp bit me...

as I read your lovely read,
and the comments,

and SOS came to mind...

"saving of souls" - a right minded
aunt told me, when young, and in
the prime of innocence...

"something for sinners" - graced
by an uncle by marriage, knowing
he had gone to war; [but it didn't
make sense...SFS...]

but papa said it best, and what
shan't be said here...but y'all know
anyway.

Food for the soul...the simplest sounds
of heaven.

Only confirms how words, language, can both charm...

...and deceive.

Could be a slogan for a political party, or something, LOL.

Well done, Kate.

Oh Roniece! Venice is one of my favorites too! If I don't make it take a wander through the Gritti Palace for me and have a wonderful time!

Well, Lady Kate, I for one, love to dip stale bread into hot tomato soup!

~ Mind you, the "sketti and meatballs" that you offered to make for Doctor Love sounds delicioso to me as well! Howsabout we have a 'mangi' a trois! lol

As per usual, I enjoyed reading your captivating writing!

Loving hug,
