Safety in the Desert!

Sand, sage, and tumble weed burning sands hot on bare
feet, lizards, scorpions, and Rattlesnake this place I love with all my
heart, firce beauty to fill the spirit.
Foothills dot the land forever dancing in heat hazes,my heart
fills to bursting with a love there is no explaining.
Empty, hot, and dry is the first impression, not so this is a place
filled with life just different, rocks hot enough to blister as I
scramble to the top this place is perfect.
Dawning song from here allows the pouring out of heart and
spirit,Sunset prayers so filled with beauty every color represented
like a rainbow poured on the whole world.
Water here a precious thing every drop of moisture used, stored
inside the cactus and the roots never wasted, abused,or trashed but
celebrated for the life it gives.
Here I play, grow, and learn we are safe here no one wants
it,camped in the foothills or deep in the desert lands this is the
only peaceful times in my life.
The star filled nights so amazing reflecting our own
campfire, these are our ancestors campfires above as watching down
protecting in the dark time Brother Moon sails by.
As the clean fire dances grandfather drums a soft beat, uncle
joins on the flute, auntie shakes the rattles gently, grandmothers
voice is chanting oh,the stories.
Of mountians blue green and far to the East where the spirits of
our people live,of the long ago when we were free in our own homes.
Tears fill my very soul with yearning for a place I had never
seen with my eyes, yet my spirit knows,my spirit knows just what this
place looks like my ancestors home.
Green valleys and trees, lakes blue and clean in the
sunlight, gentle breezes blowing, sweet scented air smells like fruit
and berries,oh,Creator my heart is broken!

Isn't it amazing,
when beauty meets barren

and we see with the inner eye?

Thank you, Dekanogi Ulogilv

Simply suberb!

As per usual....this author speaks with the 'voices'
of Nature/Mother Earth and the 'every-spirit'

I profoundly enjoyed reading this 'write'!

The desert does not take a back seat to the greenest hill or valley. Each has a unique beauty and spiritual essence, the same as we two leggeds.
Granny, thank you for your poetic offerings of truth!
