.

What does it matter
That there is no snow

Now  Tonight
A young Marine
Again on his way to Vietnam
Will stroll by the shore
At Quantico

Where lights of the tree
Outside the base HQ
Will glow red and gold
Like so many flares

And the snow will fall . . .
To lie like stars
On the sleeves of his coat
In the cold clear air

And life
Will breathe and sigh
At that heartfelt memory

Merry Christmas to all
For yet another year

.
