Old Eyes Recall
By Larry Chadwick

I try to see the things I saw,
When I was young and full of awe.
But years have passed, my eyes have faded,
And compared to then I now am jaded.

Try as I might to recall those sights,
There is no prescription to correct my plight.
So it’s much like reading without my glasses on,
But from an arms length still worth focusing on.
December 21, 2006

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

no, no, I disagree dear sweet Larry, you're not old or jaded or faded... you are simply beautiful and have a magic way with words

Enjoyed... RDB

Now son, How can you be old when I am just a kid starting to live my life? Hop onto that motorcyle and let the wind blow through your hair. LOL "mom"

Hmm, as for me, I now see better with my third eye than I do with my two baby blues!

Larry, I believe that you now see better with your heart and soul than you do with your beepers!

Giving you a warm hug from my heart to yours,

Linda

RDB,
Nope, I'm old. Even your initials make me think of a 1909 s by VDB. See... it's hopeless. And thanks a ton.

Dixie,
Are you sure? I didn't think you were THAT old. And thanks too.

Martyjo(Mom),
Riding does amazing things but unless it goes by the fountain of youth I'm afraid the truth can't be hidden.

LeeJ,
Hi sweet lady and thank you. Hope you have a great holiday.

Interloper,
Thanks a lot. I'm only jaded in comparison to being two! Silly guy. I don't milk bulls I milk rattlers.

Nancy,
Only if my left eye is open! LOL And Merry Christmas to you and yours too. Thanks.

Sy,
Thank you kind sir. I thought you might. And Merry Christmas to you and your lovely wife and family. And thanks for the inspiration the first two lines came from one of your poem titles.

Linda,
I thought only girls had beepers! I've heard of four eyes but a third eye, eh? Hmmm Should I be worried about you? Thanks for the fun and happy holidays dear lady.

Toe,
I knew I could count on you! Thanks for being such a special friend. A "Poot" eh, guess I haven't lived long enough to hear of 'em.

Ordinarily, I'd be sorry I'd missed this one for so long... but... to everything, there is a time... *S*

And having spent the holiday concentrating on trying to see through the eyes of my 8 year old nephew... with lots of effort but little success... this is the perfect time for this read. *S* It's worth seeing... but hard to do. *S*

Ruthie,
Thanks. Some things are just meant to be. Kids, what a gift.

I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
