Expelled in plumes into the cold
to stave off the advancing chill.
Illumined by the slanted sun
which crests atop a distant hill.

A ghostly cloud beneath a sky
that tints a whitened world to blue.
Essential to sustain this life,
relinquished freely for this view.

In crystal purity to stand,
a transient in this frozen place
transfixed, if only for the time
one breath dissolves without a trace.

As in between ones' last and next
the urge to just let go takes hold
before the conscious effort's made
to draw one more against the cold,

and so by conquest to remain
above the grip of colds' domain.

don't like the cold so much, but after reading this beauty, I'll have second thoughts...very nicely described...your words floated like visuals across my mind

Doc,
And some determination is required. Interesting write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
