Now yes, to be, my love, you see:
My love, ‘tis you, to me your eyes;
I feel, all real, all pleasure’s bound,
Cause when I see you, I can tell you lies:
I don’t love, I don’t see, I can’t tell you
How much I really love you.

So now, dear girl, you know, my pearl—
Not as white but pure enough, for truth:
I can’t care more less—I need the hope
You send to me. My heart, ‘tis couth,
But yet my dear, ‘tis fragile still.
If diamonds break, my heart sure will.
