You said you didn't know who I was anymore,
and so that made two of us there.
Back then, I played on the black keys,
off-tune and I didn't care.

And damn if I didn't know
how much you needed me
to put a message in the bottle
and toss it out to sea.

Time went by. Tomorrows passed.
You never did walk away.
You spent many nights on the side,
just listening to me play.

You finally got the message
you so patiently waited for,
after I finally realized
I was worth much more.

I got you lookin' at stars again
yet you still don't see Orion,
but that's okay...you see me...
and now we're done with cryin'

I still play on the black keys
and you sit with an attentive ear,
you said it's good to know me again...

yeah, that makes two of us here.

Dixie, getting to know your own self better must surely relay into you liking yourself better!

To know you is to love you!

Ah, I adore your words. I think when we don't know who we are, we are being our most precious selves without any editing or posing. Stay real, darlin'. Keep it on the "black keys."

Love,
Reg

Dixie, I do so love reading you, sometimes I think we must be twin souls, 'cause the thoughts that drip from your pen, echo the ones in my heart so often ...

Good to see each of you Helen, Linda, Regina, Sheli...

I thank you beautiful ladies for your beautiful comments here

there was a time when I lived inside of a bottle. To think about that person now, is almost unbearable. I can only thank God that I didn't lose more than I lost and that I'm still alive through it all.

I don't know how I stopped, and I couldn't be of any use in AA to help other people as far as how I kicked the habit...all I can say is it was God.

Do you play more sharps or flats?

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

There is something melodious and haunting about playing in sharps and flats,
like always riding above and seeing below,
or reading between the lines,
living dangerously,
but courageously.

Yes it means that maybe we are 'off sync' for a while, but how can we gain understanding unless we have been there.

Nice to know that you do not disregard all the black keys now, but have learned to use them to your advantage.....

An interesting read,

Have Fun,
