Skip-Beats

Standing by the stone carved with your name
Ipod earpiece singing wooded flute laments,
I see your eyes shimmering
behind the closed lids of my own,
and my heart skip-beats, skip-beats, beats . . .

A year has passed? Couldn’t have.
Just couldn’t have been a year
since the relentless knawing of the beast inside
silenced the songs you used to play,
the wooded flute laments I hear.

Sadden souls cry fading out in long,
single notes rising suddenly,at the end.

You knew, and your soul cries for life
in the voice of the wooded flute.
You sang the glory of living . . . the songs of life,
you aged it’s tone with your heart,
melded it’s soul with your own.

And my heart skip-beats, skip-beats, beats. . .

Christmas, a year ago – coming soon.
Wooded flute crying in my soul . . .
skip-beats, skip-beats . . . beats.

sighs..people do become intricately embedded and composed into us with their music, even if they are silent.

beautiful expression of such a melody, hon.

That one.  Well that one is lovely.  You show it, and I feel it and hear it.

jwesley,

It's good to read you again.  There's something about the unity of spirits that wooden flute brings... Enjoyed your poem and wish you happiness.

very touching, indeed; after I posted, I regretted that I didn't save this in my library...  That's easy enough to remedy!  Thank you for sharing.
