Generations

Each generation brews a wine
Regeneration from a vine
An aberration of some dew
A dispensation not quite true

A circumstance of changing grime
Within the cooker of its time
A spirit of a single core
A chaos seeking evermore

A process that can oft offend
Each moment passing to its end
A brew that brews within a brew
And always changing into new

This life within a life of space
A flower of a moment’s grace
That mellows in a state of spore
And yesterday the wine of pour

It tastes to me of sour grape
In the opinion of this ape

All we can do is pray that each generation  offers up only sweet and gentle fruit.

Here's to a great poet this New Year's Eve, and to the next generation of poets going to be born in 2009!

Giving thanks for the archives when one gets in a "fingering through the pages mood."
