I put away the silver
The crystal...carefully wrapped
The china gathers dust
My plans for life were scrapped
I had no need for trivial things
The world had stopped for me
There would be no more tomorrow
As far as I could see

The dining table set for two
The candlelight that glowed
The flowers that you brought me
The love you always showed
These memories were too painful
For me to try to bear
Those things forever gone now
That we can't ever share

But time has a way of healing
And grief begins to fade
And we tend to cling to memories
Of the life that we had made
I remember how the silver gleamed
In the glow of candlelight
And the scent of blooming roses
Wafting the air at night

I still set your place at the table
On our "special" romantic night
The crystal sparkles brightly
In the glow of candlelight
The scent of roses fills the air
I feel your presence near
As I lovingly raise my glass to say
"Happy Anniversary Dear"

This was a nice poem even though it made me sad.

Thanks Lady...that's why a true poet writes...to know that he has touched another soul and bring solace to ease their pain.

Milady Bea... Sap is more than alright. Like honey... I love the taste no matter what the source.
