Peacock Feathers

My Peacock feathers catch the sun
When all is said and all is done
The iridescent of its glare
Still holds this hen with silver hair

It’s rare that I still preen about
For now I really have no doubt
She’s been with me through thick and thin
My backward glance is naught but grin

Except for those that sooth my pride
Of the overtures of my bride
Those moments of our side by side
Those rumps with nothing left to hide

But time to time I spread them out
To show her what I’m still about
To show her that I’m still aware
That she’s the fairest of the fair

So look my dear my Peacock spread
For you twill spread until I’m dead

I always knew you were a colorful feller, Sy

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Sy....I love Peacocks and I'm pleasured to have a few in my neighborhood, but they don't write poetry like you.
