you had other sides to your castle
with your own private dragon
and demons to play in the sand with
those winter afternoons in baja

I was the boat man from habana
the south side below beverly,
herding land yachts for charter
for the whisper shin girls in velvet

we took vacations separately on purpose
being strangers made it easier
for you to shop at bloomingales
for skimpy somethings you modeled

on the nude clothesline between us
so I could imagine you without them
and you could pretend I was the only one
that ever really enjoyed those ybor nights

when you were somewhere south of else town

Oh yeah.  And the pretend is sometimes more real than the real, man.

Stranger darlin’
thinking ‘bout skimpy somethings and ybor nights
makes breathing a little difficult
but oh so nice

"I was the boat man from habana

It's all great, but I'm partial to this verse. Can see it and hear it in a song. Lyricists would love to turn a verse like that.

Warmest hugs Dark man.

Love,
Reg

You know what Dark? I've figured something out. I've been reading a lot of your stuff lately and I saw a pattern. You write usually four stanzas that are four or five lines each and ending the poem on a single line. Very interesting that you do that. Just something I noticed.    Ed
