I sat quietly today
as dusk was just settling in,
I found myself in thought of you
and wondering how you've been.

I replayed some old memories
like home movies in my mind,
but I couldn't see your face at all
nor recall your eyes, so kind.

I could just hear that smokey laugh
as I drifted off into a gaze,
I remember you were gentle...
that part of you always stays.

I remember the night before I left,
how I slowly touched your face
trying to memorize it, to keep it
within a memory's forever-place.

But time has taken its toll
on memory, like it does with most,
as dusk was just settling in
I realized, you have become a ghost.

A poem begins with a lump in the throat.

You only remember that which you desire

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Dixie....Sad, how that happens...but maybe it's necessary...seems the warm around the photos stays while the rest maybe was just not important anyway.

Very nice work, I know that fleeting memory feeling very well, happens during every test I write.

Started to copy a line
or two
but it quickly became
the poem

and like a gentle ghost
stroked me quiet.
