A Pause of Recall
By Larry Chadwick
In memory of Ginger Michelle

As I reflect on the past,
It is all I have of you.
Unwilling to let go
Of the you it is I knew.

Fearful of the price
That I may pay,
If in anyway
I neglect today.

For how can I possibly
Keep my eye on tomorrow,
If I allow myself
To focus on my sorrow?

So without giving up
That which I have lost,
I cannot forfeit now
For it is too great a cost.

It is a wistful glance,
I cast over my shoulder,
Strengthened by those I love
As slowly I grow older.

You are “forever young”
In the shadows of my mind.
When I pause to search for you
It is what I like to find.
December 9, 2006

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

understanding... I too remember Joanne as she was, she never grows older and that is kind of comforting. We never let go, but we can smile more through the memories. hugs , martyjo AKA mom

Kate,
Thank you. It is  balancing act and those around don't always see it the same way. But then again, until you've been there...

Nancy,
Thanks I needed that.

MartyJo(mom),
Thanks and it is indeed a comfort. Seems if nothing else they'll miss a lot of grief including the loss of their parents.

Helen,
Thanks that's the nicest compliment I know.

Dixie,
Thanks, but it's okay. Seems time can mend a lot.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Reg,
Thank you for that. I've never forgotten you to be a daddy's girl.

Donna,
And the highest compliment anyone could ever give me, is from you. Thank you.

Sy,
My fine sage, thank you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
