Winter Wonderland

When ole man winter comes to call
The first snowflakes begin to fall
It’s then a special time of year
To spend with my sweetheart so dear

My love and I go to the park
Just before it’s getting dark
We’ll find a seat upon a bench
Where we can sit and warmly clench

To watch the snow fall on the trees
As it drifts so softly on the breeze
Tiny specks of silver flashes
Lightly fall on our eyelashes

The park’s a wonderland at night
Beneath a blanket soft and white
Fountains there no longer flow
Covered by the drifting snow

The snowflakes sparkle clear and bright
Passing through the street lamp’s light
They dance a sweet and soft ballet
As through the air they skip and play

We love to watch each falling flake
As cold and frosty scenes they make
Quietly floating from the skies
And settling there before our eyes

It seems a million diamonds glow
As moonlight glistens on the snow
The little pond is frozen still
Its bank is just a snowy hill

We sit and watch this lovely scene
As white replaces what was green
And as the woods fill up with snow
My love and I decide to go

Back home we’ll shake our icy chill
Beside our frosty window sill
Hot cocoa in our warming hand
While watching winter’s wonderland

What an enjoyable, tender poem this is.  Sharing the beauty of fresh falling snow and warming up with hot chocolate while you admire it out the window.  I love it.

As beautiful as any Currier & Ives.
You have painted with words the majesty they painted in oils.
